Back in 2008, Metro North movd its ferry gangway to the north side of the Village pier as requested by the Village in order to open the end of the pier for an eventual extension to deeper water.
In 2015, HVSC was awarded a grant by the NYSDEC for the design and permitting of a deep water pier that would allow the historic Tall Ships to visit, and to accommodate visiting smaller boats. The Village and Ginsburg Development as project partners provided the matching funds.
After more than 30 design revisions to satisfy all stakeholders, a final design was submitted and received Army Corps, NYSDEC, NYSDOS, NYSOGS and NYS SHPO approval. The design consists of a fixed pier and floating docks, the one farthest out able to accommodate deep water historic ships like the Hudson River Clearwater, Freedom Ship Amistad, historic war ships from the revolutionary war, Viking ship replicas, Ancient Greek war shipsd, and many other.
We are now searching for construction funding grant opportunities.
