The dam was successfully removed in November 2024 and the riverbed and embankments restored. Post removal restoration monitoring has already documented that migrating blue crabs from the Hudson River have migrated upstream past the former dam site. Further, eDNA water monitoring in 2025 showed evidence of alewife above the dam site. eDNA monitoring has already begun in March 2026 hoping for new alewife signals.
